Performance
My first impression of the Samsung UN55F8000BF was that it was bright and bold, which is definitely a commendable characteristic, especially if you are primarily watching TV in a well-lit room. Even when the Picture Mode is set to Movie, the image can bedazzle.
In my bat cave, I prefer a more subdued picture and as I have said, this Samsung definitely can be adjusted to a wide range of picture conditions. Even then, I wouldn't call the picture subtle.
The UNF8000 series employs "Micro Dimming Ultimate with Precision Black Local Dimming" technology, which does an admirable job of rendering deep blacks that approach the results of the best plasma displays.
Even though I am not a fan of active shutter 3D glasses, the 3D playback on this Samsung is excellent. Nowadays, the glasses, even with the battery, are extremely lightweight and comfortable, though still pricey if you are planning a 3D movie party. Four pairs of glasses are included in the box.
Samsung engineers have integrated a 10W + 10W speaker system with woofers into the UN55F8000, which is simply not robust enough. The volume is limited and even though the speakers are full range, they just cannot deliver audio quality that matches the TVs picture quality.
As I have suggested in almost every TV review over the years, make your TV investment worth it by at least adding a high-end sound bar, better yet, a dedicated 5.1 or 7.1 audio system.
Conclusion
At first, all the features and apps that the Samsung UN55F8000BF Smart TV provides might be intimidating, but the TV's great picture quality - right out of the box - should calm your qualms. You can explore all the bells and whistles as time and your gumption permit.
