P R E S S R E L E A S E LG ELECTRONICS SHOWCASES NEW 60-INCH PLASMA HDTV, INTEGRATED HOME THEATER SOLUTIONS AT CEDIA EXPO 2006 Award-Winning Designs Lead Company's Array of Plasma ScreensDENVER, Sept. 14, 2006 — Providing systems integrators and custom installers with a wide variety of digital video display solutions, LG Electronics today announced the availability of its newest 60-inch plasma HDTV and highlighted the company's award-winning designs at the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) EXPO 2006 (booth #258). "LG's plasma lineup epitomizes the innovative solutions, functionality and stylish design that LG Electronics brings to the consumer electronics custom installation market," said Robert A. Perry, vice president, consumer electronics sales and channel marketing, LG Electronics USA, Inc. "Our award-winning PC1 series is yet another reaffirmation of LG's commitment to providing unique and gorgeous products to the premium marketplace." Perry said home theater dealers and installers benefit from the combination of LG's global leadership in plasma display production capacity, its cutting-edge designs and its unique technologies. As a founding member of the Plasma Display Coalition, LG Electronics is committed to promoting the benefits of plasma HDTV in conjunction with its retail partners.
Big, Bold HDTV for the Ultimate Home Theater Installation Available for the first time this month, this 60-inch large-screen beauty shares the same industrial design as the second-quarter-released 50-inch plasma HDTV with built-in HD-DVR (50PC1DRA), which received the renowned reddot international design award. But its beauty is not only skin deep. This model also uses the latest XD Engine for the most realistic color fidelity and features a 7,000:1 contrast ratio. Built-in ATSC/NTSC/ QAM tuners (with LG's powerful fifth-generation VSB digital TV reception chipset) as well as two HDMI inputs and other connectivity options make this set the ideal centerpiece for any home theater. Equally beautiful for home theater enthusiasts, LG's 60PC1D is the first 60-inch PDP to break the $6,000 price barrier; it's available now at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $5,399.
Plasma with Built-in HD-DVR Leads Convergence Trends
The 50PC1DRA also features the convenience of the latest Gemstar Digital TV Guide Onscreen interactive program guide, which displays eight days of program information. The unit is Digital Cable Ready, which eliminates the need for a separate cable set-top box. And its 10,000:1 contrast ratio, 1366 x 768p resolution and 14-bit color processor provide crystal clear images. The new widescreen plasma-DVR incorporates an automatic time-shift feature, which continuously records in one-hour intervals. Other features include slow motion rewind and fast forward capabilities as well as instant replay. These sets enable viewers to easily organize recorded programs and set up repeat recordings of their favorite show. Available at consumer electronic stores nationwide, the 50PC1DRA has a manufacturers suggested retail price of $3,699.
Breadth and Depth of Sizes and Designs
The next-generation XD Engine chip takes the low resolution of analog signals to near high-definition levels by improving brightness, contrast, detail and enhancing color as well as reducing signal noise. This total solution results in cinema-like high-def images. Prices for these popular mid-sized plasma HDTVs range from $1,999 for 42-inch models to $2,999 for 50-inch sets. Finally, a plasma highlight at CEDIA Expo is LG's dramatic 71-inch plasma display, the first flat-panel measured in feet not inches. For the ultimate home theater installation, model MW-71PY10 features progressive-scan HD (1920 x 1080p) display capability. All of LG's plasma displays provide comprehensive image sticking prevention measures to minimize damage as a result of stationary images.
