P R E S S R E L E A S E Toshiba Cinema Series Television Line Offers Top Video Technologies and Cosmetic Designs Line Features Award-Winning Projection Television
CES, LAS VEGAS - JANUARY 5, 2005; Toshiba America Consumer Products, L.L.C., (Toshiba) showcased today its full line of Cinema Series products at CES. Consumers continue to turn to Toshiba's Cinema Series line of televisions when looking for a superior picture and beautiful cosmetics. To emphasize Toshiba's focus on design and innovation, the Cinema Series Plasma TV and DLP Projection TV will be featured in a home environment at the CES booth, highlighting how the televisions can blend into a room while also providing advanced picture quality. One of the most notable Cinema Series televisions is the DLP TV, given the 2005 CES Innovations Award for its unique design and advanced technology. In 2005 Toshiba will be expanding its Cinema Series line of 16:9 CTV, LCD TV, Plasma TV, and DLP PTV models to include new screen sizes and digital features. Toshiba also announced that it will expand its portfolio of DLP TVs in 2005 to feature 1080p resolution in select models, providing superior design and technology to enhance the consumer's home theater experience. "With Cinema Series, we continue to provide consumers with TVs that utilize superior picture quality and cosmetic design to enhance their home theater experience, and their home," said Scott Ramirez, Toshiba America Consumer Products VP, Marketing. "In 2005, we will broaden the Cinema Series brand with an expanded line-up of 16:9 CTV, LCD, Plasma, and DLP PTV. With new larger screen sizes, new cosmetic designs, new digital features, and new 1080p Resolution, Cinema Series is the brand to watch, and the brand to own." Cinema Series DLP Projection TV The technology at the center of Toshiba's DLP sets is a proprietary Digital Light Engine named (Toshiba Advanced Light Engine) designed and manufactured by Toshiba. This new system utilizes Texas Instruments' step-up HD2+ chip to provide high resolution with improved brightness and contrast. Another development from Toshiba is the incorporation of the new PixelPure™ Digital Video Processing Suite. The line of DLP PTVs also employs the new TheaterFine™ DFP Screen technology with a Digital Fine Pitch and Anti-Glare Coating that results in incredible detail and noticeably deeper blacks for a better picture. There is even the new Radiance DC Lamp technology with high brightness and lower power modes (for extended life), and a Quick Restart feature that allows the sets to restart quickly after power down. Cinema Series Flat Panel TV Toshiba displayed its 42HPX84 16:9 Plasma HD Monitor, featuring 720p (1024x768) True HD panel resolution and its 32HLX84 16:9 HD Monitor LCD TV featuring 720p (1366x768) True HD panel resolution and dual HDMI digital inputs. The Plasma model utilizes a new double baffle design, while the LCD model utilizes a new space saving bottom speaker design. Other features include SRS® WOW™ and Virtual Dolby for unparalleled sound quality, as well as Digital 3DYC Comb Filter,Cinema Mode (3:2 Pull Down), Color Temperature Control, HD Dynamic Contrast, and Movie and Sports modes for user convenience and enhanced picture quality.
