My Experience: We bought this set back in Feb 06 so have had it long enough to judge some of its great points, and some of the areas which I don't like much. All in all, I love the set and am glad we bought it. Of course, I knew at the time we bought it that we should have waited a little longer for the price to come down, and it has. We bought it for $3000 in 2/06.
The picture quality is about flawless. We compared it to the Sharp Aquos and some other high-end sets, and this won out hands down. We set it up ourselves and it was relatively easy, taking about 1 hr total. When we needed help, Mitsubishi was there quickly, sending out their area tech who was very helpful. It's been a very good experience owning it and, again, the color, to us, has been outstanding. HDTV is exactly what it's cracked up to be, and this TV, without purchasing an HDTV package, automatically finds the network HD channels which we really loved. We could get HDTV without paying the added price through the cable company.
Problems: The TV takes forever to actually come on when you power it up. Make sure you're not running to the TV to turn on a program you forgot about, and that just started...you'll miss a lot and be very frustrated. The store we bought the TV at told us not to bother with the NetCommand feature, that it was way more trouble than it's worth, and it is. We set it up about 2 mos ago when we bought our new receiver, and I wish we hadn't. When you power down the TV it suddenly powers on the DVD player, and vice versa. Very frustrating. It never works the DVD player correctly and we're always using the original DVD remote, anyway. I would recommend just getting a good universal remote and not bothering with NetCommand. Good idea, poor in practice.
