My Experience: Purchased the WD52825 model in '06 - during that period we went through 3 bulbs, which are expensive but were covered by the extended warranty. The TV is beautiful looking, the picture and sound are superb and we had no problems - the warranty ended this Jan. 2010. Last week, the picture went out and the flashing green light started. I called the authorized dealer who said it was a problem on the board and that Mitsubishi didn't make the part anymore, that the whole chassi would need to be replaced for a cost of over $700.
I called Mitsubishi and asked for financial assistance - they had me fax the proof of purchase and estimate of repairs. Customer service kept in touch and within three days they called with an option of covering 50% of the repairs or they would replace it with a 60" DLP (although not the high end model this TV is) After conferring with the TV guy I opted to have a new chassi put in. This was a top of the line model compared to the new replacement they offered. The repair guy after putting in the new chassi also opened up the front of the TV and cleaned and vacuumed everything. I essentially have a brand new set - the picture is incredible and with Mitsubishi's assistance, it cost only $330. Now that's good customer service!
Problems: Unfortunately the new TV's do not last 15-25 years like they once did. The lamps on this TV seems to last about 2 years and are expensive. But from what I've heard it doesn't matter what brand or what model you buy, they all seem to need some repair after several years.
