My Experience: After a long wait, I finally was able to get the "low gloss" Samsung 6 series. I have to say that the low gloss screen is the only way to go. I have to give poor marks to the continued use of high gloss polycarbonate framing that Samsung insists on using. Reflections from windows and lights are distracting, but not as bad as if I had the entire high gloss version screen (650, 750, 850... model).

As you have probably read elsewhere, Samsung has done a big "uh-oh" with the design of their polycarbonate frames. The 750 is especially bad, as it light-pipes the image on to the border of the polycarbonate frame(cut at a 45 degree angle to the viewer). The 650 does not seem to be as bad, due to the bending they did to the polycarbonate. The 630 got the flat polycarbonate treatment (in deep red), but then they did a full deep 1/2 radius into the rear edge of the frame - reducing the thickness on the edge to about half. They did not angle the remaining edge of the frame. The result is no visible light-piping to the edge of the frame - which was a real deal breaker for me on the older models.

That issue aside, there are a few other quirks with this TV. I would like to input audio to the TV, but it will not play the audio source unless there is a video signal coming in as well.

The remote is more sensitive to aiming at the TV than my Toshiba is.

The low-def picture quality is fair. My Toshiba is much better on low-def material. High-def stuff is, of course, pretty darn amazing.

Audio quality is solid. There is some room for improvement, but definitely acceptable. I actually bought a new Toshiba (the 550), and the audio was so bad I returned it. Word of warning - LISTEN to the TV you want to buy. I know most stores have 50 TV's on next to each other and not one has a audio you can adjust. Ask to hear it before you buy it!!

Additional features:
This TV has a motion smoothing 120hz effect that is, well, quite strange. It is very disconcerting, especially in fast panning scenes such as on ER. The motion is TOO smooth - it's hard to describe, you need to see it in person. Fortunately you can turn it off. It has an off, low, med, and hi modes, but even in low it was too much for me and my wife to watch.

This TV also has a picture viewer for USB sticks. It can do jpg and it can do MP3's, but no other formats. I did not try the MP3 feature. It has a strange way of organizing the files in those folders - by "color", by "composition"??? Hmm... I think plugging a computer into the PC port is going to be MUCH easier than navigating Samsung's menus and quirks.

Overall, a very good TV. I give it about a 9/10. Unfortunately in today's crop of TV's, the low gloss screens are harder and harder to find. I hope this trend does not continue.

Problems: None so far (1 month).
