My Experience: the requirement for a cable splitter was buried in the manual. The tiling due to either a bad video controller or to a weak cable signal is persistent and non correctable.
Problems: 1. rewired the house to account for "weak signal" from the cable company. But this proved to be ineffective. 2. Very user unfriendly. Had to wait several hours to see the channels that were authorized. 3. Replaced the video tuner to reduce the amount of "tiling" - to no avail. 4. Service by Sharp was limited to "not our problem-- it's the cable signal".. 5. Still can't watch a digital show without tiling or audio distortion. It goes "black" when the signal drops "too" low. 6. too expensive
