My Experience: Bought it in late 2004 for $2600+stand $3000 total. Early 2008 got blue blobs forming on screen. Replaced lamp for $150, no help. Found information that Hitachi knew about heat problems and offered extended warrenties in the 50 inch models with a redesign of the engine. Also found hitachi proceedure for cleaning filters. Took it apart and found small filters around prism burning up from lamp heat, cleaning to help. No one offered any option to me for repairs except optical engine replacement ranging from $600 used or rebuilt to around $1000 new. No guarrentee new engine would last eather. I will scrap it and put the money into a more reliable longer lasting set. I won't be looking at Hitachi. That was the most I ever spent on a set and the shortest time it ever lasted. $600 a year to watch that one.

Problems: Blue blobs formed at about 3 1/2 years after normal use. Within 2 months screen turned comlpetely green. Hitachi rep's no help. No options for parts any where except entire optical engine replacement.
