My Experience: I purchased this floor model set ($950 vs. $1900) in May '06 from Super WalMart Lamp out in 2 months, but got a new one installed through warranty (approx. $300 retail) within a week. Nov '06 light engine went out. RCA replaced this (approx. $1600 retail) within 2 weeks under warranty. Needless to say, I now have a new TV courtesy of RCA. Since this was a floor model I purchased the stores 3 year ext. warr. for $200. I still saved over $700, but did take the chance of having issues due to the handling the TV experienced while in WalMart's hands. Once these issues were fixed (RCA service was very good), this TV hase been AWESOME!!! No other DLP I researched seems to have the quality of picture, features, sound, etc. this set has. As for issues, when the TV repairman came to fix the set, we talked about DLPs and he said he has been in the repair business for almost 30 years and there is NO real leader in reliability for DLP. He's seen Samsung, Panasonic, and other top name brands die within a month or two, as do RCAs. RCA's advantage is they don't cost quite as much to repair, i.e., RCA light engine is $1600 retail, he replaced a Panasonic that was $2100 and set was just beyond the one year warranty so customer had to foot the bill. One suggestion I would make, and the repairman agreed, buy the extended warranty as most are only a few hundred dollars and a light will cost more than that. The other suggestion would be to have a spare light on hand to minimize downtime. Since the light is nothing more than a halogen bulb, and most warranty work takes on average 2+weeks, have a spare light you can replace immediately and put the warrant light in the closet as a spare, especially if you don't have a spare TV. Yes, you're looking at approx. $250+, but it's worth not dealing with the aggrevation of no TV. This was highly suggested by the repairman as lights are lights and they don't last forever.
Problems: Light and light engine, but this was a WalMart floor model I got for approx. $900 below retail. I had to expect I might have issues due to the rough handling it probably went through.
