My Experience: First off: Great TV in this price range. While shopping, the only set I found that had a better picture IMO was the equivalent Sony model, but that was twice the price. For $800 new, this is a fine set.
Tuners: DTV - good but not spectacular. You will need a *good* antenna to receive local HD broadcasts (especially since DTV transmitters are currently operating at lower power in many markets). Search function is easy, but this set does not allow manual selection/entry of DTV channels to be programmed. (Example: if you want to watch DTV Ch. 9, and scan won't program it, you cannot just hit 0-9 and tune to it. The TV will not allow tuning to any channel that isn't pre-programmed by the scan feature. Very annoying!) Remapping feature is handy, channel labeling is accurate. NO access to PSIP information with this tuner. Cell-phone style signal meter is available, as well as current program & rating titling. ANALOG - very good off-air analog tuner. I was quite surprised to find such a good analog receiver in this set. Above average reception, particularly on UHF. Beware though; this TV throws quite a bit of RF interference, so if you're using rabbit ears, best to place them a minimum of 8 feet away from the TV. This will effect analog picture qlaity, and reduce/prohibit VHF (Ch.2-13) DTV reception.
LCD: The LCD in my set isn't perfect, but it's pretty good for the money. Good reaction, good contrast, decent resolution & outstanding color. Sony makes a better one, but again for a bargain priced set this one will do nicely. Picture improves after some warm-up, like most LCD's do. I've had plenty of compliments for it's picture quality.
CONNECTIONS: Everything you need to connect DVD's, cable boxes, game consoles, etc... WATCH YOUR R/G/B CONNECTIONS, make sure you get them right!
REMOTE/EASE OF USE: This TV has a good full function remote control. It could've been designed more ergonomically (CH & VOL are reversed from most remotes, numbers are a bit far apart). Even a beginner/electronic novice should be able to have this TV up and running inside of 30 minutes. Fairly intuitive on-screen menus, easy adjustment of picture, etc. My only suggestion would be to do at least 3 scans of DTV channels ("Digital Add-on Scan") to make sure you're getting all available signals. The DTV tuner can be picky and will reject poor/unsteady signals.
BUILD QUALITY: I've moved this set several times, kept it in storage (cold too) for about a month... had no problems. While this is a fragile piece of electronics, it won't readily break if you have to relocate it. Keep the box it came in!
Problems: My only concern is the thin coating on the screen is very easy to scratch. Not an issue for most, but be careful when cleaning it! Also, the LCD does not appear to be uniform in brightness all the way across the panel. Not noticable during most programming, but it may be seen on some programming/movies that have lots of camera panning and moving shots. You can see it when you have a blank screen.
DRAWBACKS: No PSIP access for DTV, no direct tuning to unprogrammed DTV channels. Far more RFI generated than expected. No grid-style program guide. No menu access without remote.
