My Experience: I've owned very good Sanyo CRTs for many years so I felt confident buying Sanyo when I decided to take the plunge into HDTV. I purchased this television as a Christmas gift to my family. The SD picture was a little weak, but the HD was as good as anything I'd seen. We loved it -- for about a month and a half. At that point, a purple-colored snow appeared at the top center of the screen and slowly spread down and out. I visited Sanyo's customer service site, and they recommended I take it back to Wal-Mart.

When the second television came home, I babied it in an attempt to avoid more problems. Everything was fine for about three months, then a line of blue and white static popped up on the right side of the screen. On moving, light colored backgrounds, the blue flashes out into the picture. Again, the Sanyo site suggested returning it to Wal-Mart.

Not wanting to go through the hassle, I contacted Sanyo to see if they could offer some advice and, at their request, sent photos and video of the problem. Their response, "Nothing we can do." The customer service rep told me that I could return it to Wal-Mart, but the new TV would "probably have the same tendencies." In other, words, they know the TV has problems and don't seem to care.

We learned an expensive lesson -- spend the extra couple of hundred dollars and get a quality TV.

Problems: Serious quality and reliability problems that may leave you with a high-priced TV full of static. Only one available HDMI port.
