My Experience: Great television for the price. Beautiful picture quality, esp. with DVD or HDTV. Had no problems with audio quality, although I'm using my own jewelbox speakers rather than the manufacturer's detachable speakers. Still, audio needed no tweaking right out of the box.
Problems: Design. Many of us who choose 42" plasmas over 50" models do so because of size contstraints rather than cost. With that in mind, the HP PL4260N's detachable speakers add an excessive amount of width to the overall design. My solution, initially, was to remove the speakers and wall mount them seperately from the television. Unfortunately, the speakers only have about 18" of rather heavy-gauge wire, so they can never be very far from the unit and the wires are quite visible. Design-wise, the mounting pegs are visible on the front of the speakers when detached, and there is no way to either wall mount them (because of their curving backs) or stand them on a table top (because of their uneven bases). Since there are no other intrinsic speakers, I was forced to pack the speakers away and use my own, smaller Bose speakers.
