My Experience: I had purchased this tv as a xmas gift for my wife and I. I had it delivered sometime in Demcember 2005 before Christmas. We thought we noticed some channels a little dark, about 10 months after using it. We thought that it was either the channel or maybe too much light in the room. (happened to be a really sunny day)

Problems: A few days after the year warranty was up, pop out goes the lamp. I called Hitachi, it wasn't under warranty because it was more than a year.
I tried to order a lamp through the service centers, I was told that the TV is very new and no-one had a lamp in stock, later i found out that 300 lamps were on back order from Hitachi and should be in by March 2007.
Before purchasing this TV ask yourself "Would you want a TV that required a $500.00 lamp once a year and have to wait 3 months for the lamp to come in ?"
My advice is keep walking, LCD is the only way to go! Stay away from any type of rear projection TV.
